Looking at Your Own Credit Report

The session highlights reviewing credit reports, obtaining them inside or outside of prison, and correcting errors or small missteps.

  • Materials needed for the session.
  • Follow-along facilitator instructions and speaking prompts.
  • 1-3 discussion questions with sample answers in each section (10 total)Instructions for leading a small group activity where the participants practice writing a letter of dispute or a letter of goodwill. 
  • A worksheet for the participants to complete during the activity that shares a situation a character is facing related to addressing item(s) on their credit report and includes space to draft a letter of dispute or letter of goodwill on behalf of the character.
  • 12 wrap-up discussion questions and an answer key for the instructor to summarize the key takeaways at the end of the session.
  • An optional worksheet for the participants to answer wrap-up discussion questions in a written form.
